UPSC declares final result of Civil Services exam 2020, 761 candidates recommended for appointment

The Union public Service  Commission 

(UPSC)  on Friday declared the finlal result of the Civil Services Examination, 2020 and said that a total of 761 candidates  -545 men and 216 women -have  been recommended for appointment. 

The candidature  of 151 candidates  is Provisinal. 

As per UPSC,  the recommendations will be made to the India  Administrative Service, Indian Foreige service, Indian police service and Central  Service, Group'A' and Group'B'.  


Appointment  to the various services will be made according to the number of vacancies  available with due consideration to the Provisions contained in the Rules  for the Examination. The number of vacancies reported by the Government to be filled is as:

Shubham  Kumar has topped  the prestigious exam while Jagrati Awasthi and Ankita jain have got Second and third ranks,  respectively.  


Shubham Kumar, Bachelor  of Technology  (civil  engineering )  graduate  form IIT Bombay, has qualified the examination with  anthoropolgy as his optional  subject. 


Awasthi  qualified  the examination with sociology as her optinal subject.  She completed B. Tech  (electrical engineering)  form Maulana Azad National  Institute of Technology (MANIT),Bhopal  


Among the top 25 candidates, 13 are men and 12 women. The recommended  candidates also include 25 persons with  benchmark disability  (seven orthopedically handicapped, four  visually  challenged, 10 hearing impaired and four multiple disabilities). 


Of the successful  candidates, 263 are of general  category, 86 form  economic weaker sections (EWS), 220 of Other Backward Class (OBC), 122 Scheduled Castes (SC)  and 61 belong to Scheduled Tribes category.

The Civil Services (preliminary)  Examination, 2020 was conducted on 4 October last year. 

As many as 10,40,060 Candidate applied for the Examination, out of whom 4,82,770 appeared in it,  the statement said. 

A total of 10,564 candidate qualified for the personality test (interview) , it said. 

The civil services examination is conducted annually by the UPSC in three stages.

1. Preliminary

2. Mains Examination.

3. Interview

UPSC has a "Facilitation Counter" near Examination Hall in its campus. Candidates can obtain any information/clarification regarding their examnination/requirments on the working days between 10:00 hours to 17:00 hours in person or over telephone No.  23385271 / 23381125 / 23098543.

Result will also be available on the official website union Public Service Commission https//www.upsc.gov.in 

Marks will be available on the website within 15 days from the date of declaration of Results, it mentiined.
